Modular Cabin

I developed a small set of building pieces for assembling cabins, then created a dynamic material with variable levels of decay and damage.

I developed a small set of cabin building pieces in Unreal Engine, keeping each piece to a consistent size so the kit could use 10-unit snapping increments. This lets the pieces line up cleanly while still supporting different cabin layouts without requiring a separate mesh for every structure.

The variable material uses each object’s ambient occlusion, curvature, and thickness maps to determine where damage and moss should grow. Using those maps as masks lets the same material produce different levels of decay while responding to the shape, crevices, and exposed areas of each piece.
